“The attack occurred at around 20.00 hours against the business called The New Excelent, located on Lincoln Avenue, off the premises of the Ministry of Roads and Traffic Monterrey,” said a spokesman.

The preliminary report said that authorities confronted armed men in a couple of vehicles parked outside the bar, and entered the premises shooting guns and then threw the bomb.

Paramedics responded to the distress call reporting a dead person and at least seven wounded by shrapnel from the grenade.

This is the second time in a bar in the area attacked the same way since the March 9, when a Bar Woman was attacked, also on Lincoln Avenue, resulting in two dead and one wounded.

Police authorities attributed the attacks on bars to rival groups in dispute for the retail drugs market.
